This is the site for current information on the music of
JAMBAY.
Jambay was one of the preeminent bands in the jam scene through most of the 90s. Formed originally in San Diego in 1989, they toured for eight years, living in Seattle for several years and then in San Francisco. Having played over a thousand gigs in that period, they established a loyal following, and appeared at major venues and festivals including HORDE and Laguna Seca Daze, sharing billings with Phish, The Allman Brothers, Moe, Blues Traveler, Taj Mahal, Les Claypool, Cake, and very many more. The original members of Jambay were Chris Haugen, Matt Butler, Mike Sugar, and Shelley Doty. Following the reorganization of the band in 1998, the members continued to play under various other configurations and names, including Make, The Redwood Project, The Shelley Doty X-tet, Float, Sugarwater, The Everyone Orchestra, Axis Brothers, MSG and Perps. Re-formed again as Jambay, Chris, Matt, and Mike will be performing with occasional special guests. Whether you have never seen Jambay, or are a longtime fan, they welcome you to come enjoy their unique blend of sophisticated improvisational post-rock/folk music.
